Hill and Bill are "moderate" (i.e., relatively conservative and pro-corporate) "New Democrats," but Republicans they ain't.

More to the point, the Republican base includes some very bitter Clinton-haters. I don't think McCain and his advisors would consider Hillary to be a very helpful addition to their ticket.
