The song is THE GHOST recorded by Fielding & Dyer (Terry Fielding and Fred Dyer), and released as a 7" single in Australia in 1973, on the Spin label. It followed their better-known hit, THE WHALE. Their first album wasn't released until 1992; it was called "Fielding & Dyer" and is (or was) still available from Fred Dyer who posted his email address in that thread.
