I loved the Depardieu version. Saw it when I was just getting over a bout of 'flu and at the end was mortally embarassed when I heard an enormous sob and realised it was me. Audible throughout the cinema.
But for a stage version, I'm still very taken with Robert Lindsay's performance at the Haymarket theatre in the West End. It started with him swinging onto the stage from one of the highest boxes ...and got better still from there!
