A worthy cause, a worthy suggestion but for one hour? Absolutely pointless. The power stations producing this power don't get switched off, and if they did, it would take far more energy to get them going again than would be saved in the hour of down time.

If it makes someone think about how much energy they use and they turn off a few lights or get low energy bulbs, then all well and good, but as a grand gesture, it's pretty pointless.
