Thread Name: Tune Req: Civil War Medley (Limeliters/Gibson)
Subject: Lyr Add: BRIGHT GOLDEN BUTTONS (Limeliters)
If it's in MIDItext, I'd be glad to convert it - just point me to where you found it. I imagine it must be here at Mudcat, if it's in our MIDItext format.
The song is on Gibson & Camp At the Gates of Horn and ...Revisited, and on the Limeliters Our Men in San Francisco album. The Limeliters "Civil War Medley" is a medley of "Bright Golden Buttons," "The First Battalion," "Yes I See" and "Two Brothers" - and the Gibson & Camp "Civil War Trilogy" is "The First Battalion," "Yes I See" and "Two Brothers." The Limeliters medley seems to be more-or-less the same arrangement, but with "Bright Golden Buttons" added at the beginning.
-Joe-

Bright Golden Buttons

Oh, hear the drums thunder
They sound such a wonder
Go march off to war, boys
And have at your fun

With your bangles and spangles
And bright golden buttons
And bright golden buttons
That shine in the sun

Oh, the cannons are screaming
Or is it my dreaming
Young men will stumble
And fall in the dust

And the cheers turn to crying
When life turns to dying
And bright golden buttons
Will all turn to rust
