Subject: RE: BS: Please explain what is a string of polop
Hi ! Bruce, me old love. Another deep and probing enquiry.! "A string of poloponies" was used in a great Steptoe and Son episode in (I think) th early 70s. Harold (the son) had ambitions to join the local Repertory company and, of course, Albert (the father) made him look pathetic. Harold read the word as "Paloponnies" and the word "misled" as "mizled" Ayyyyyyyyragbone.
