Bobert, where I come from you can usually find morels near mayapple patches or on the southern side of slopes. Others say in burned areas. Usually nobody tells anyone else where they find morels, but I'm giving you the straight stuff here.

Soak 'em in salted water to kill the bugs (several changes of salt water is recommended and then fry 'em up in butter (REAL butter!) and garlic. Not too much, now -- just enough to heat 'em up.

Treat 'em kinda like the way to prepare snails for escargot.
