Thanks everyone for your links & info, it's been interesting reading, what a fascinating culture. I'll be figuring out which CD to try to get hold of, probably more along the traditional way than the modern for my taste. I can still hear the Mother's 'joik' at the window in my head, absolutely lovely. Maybe the personal nature of the 'joik' enhances the beauty of the sound?
