Yes, this is the type of thing that really muddies the waters of religion in general and theology in particular. Enough with the self-appointed prophets and exegetes.

We DO need to know WHO Mr. Obama is, what his priorities are and where his loyalties lies. We need to know that from EVERY candidate who aspires to the highest office of this land. Enough of wild-eyed speculation. Reporter, ask the TOUGH questions and stop trying to help out your choice. America deserves a fair hearing from each candidate. Enough of the soft-ball interviews and puff pieces. Enough of the baiting. Enough of the hatchet-jobs. That crap may have worked in the past but we are an electorate which now pays much closer attention. We are better informed. We can handle the truth.

We know that we are not trying to elect a saint or a demon. These people who would be President are human beings. I inhaled---several times---didn't you? And if you didn't, so what? I'd rather have a candidate who has been there and learned the hard lessons that experience teaches. We need a real person in office, not a figurehead, not a facade, not a prop-job. Give us the truth. We can handle it.

Emails like the one presented have two immediate effects and one long termed effect, none of which are any good to this nation. The immediate effect is that it galvanizes the position of the uninformed and the less intelligent or the intellectually lazy. It become "all they need to know" about a particular candidate. On the other side it becomes a confirmation of the ignorance of those who don't support their candidate and stereotypes the opposition views. The biggest evil is that it continues to divide this country along increasingly radical party lines. Enough of this nonsense! This is NOT what elections should be about. Give us the truth. We can handle it.
