There's a whole lot of nautical music being composed, as well as being revived, but you need to know where to look for it. Mudcat is a good resource and there are several "sea music" threads that might be revived and reviewed.

One of the best festivals that you might consider attending takes place the second weekend of June in Mystic Connecticut, The Mystic Sea Music Festival.

A number of sea music singers such as myself are also adapting old nautical poems for singing, poems by Kipling, John Masefield, C. Fox Smith and others. But there are also entirely new sea songs being put together.

The San Franscisco Maritime Museum is also a center for sea music, with a full range of concerts and song sessions aboard their historic ships.

Where are you located? And who are some of your favorite singers?

Cheerily,
