It's possible to play guitar and bass (especially the electric versions) just by using hammer-ons with the fretting hand (it is of course the beginning of the slippery slope that leads to two-handed tapping). I saw an video on YouTube of someone playing guitar and bass at the same time this way to accompany himself on a harmonica.
