Although maybe not "gospel" I like to do Gillian Welch's "Orphan Girl", and just tried "Wayfaring Stranger" at a party the other night. I don't do the "church" thing, but I sure do love gospel, particularly stuff with "bluegrass" tinge to it. I like hearing gospel tunes at a jam session....I consider them very much part of "folk" music.
