In all seriousness ... if you exam the short growing season in the Nordic lands, you'll soon realize that "root vegtables", and rye grains, were just about all they could grow. My Finnish family suffered from that diet and had the expected goiters, as I did also. Modern science provided the cure with idodine, and that evolved into "iodized salt."
