Speaking about plastic and waste, does anybody remember Christo?

He is sometimes called an Envitomental Artist, best know for wrapping things in copious quantities of plastic. I have seen pictures of the aftermath, and he simply let the stuff blow away. Once he wrapped a small island and the wrapping material eventually ripped to pieces and went into the ocean.
