Eastern Sunsets can be quite spectacular. Also the occasional 360 degree sunset. I'm not sure just what causes them, but my grandmother's window faced due east across a salt marsh - and she would qwuite frequently get eastern sunset displays - they were at their most spectacular when combined with a high tide and not only would she get the sky colour in the east, but it's reflection in the water.
