Well, I wish you well but just go on and do it. The company is opposing it because a) you left them and b) they don't want to pay unemployment, but it's mostly a) you left them.

Remember that you've got to take your written proof with you. Seems too that whatever health insurance the company had would have taken care of your broken arm, too....
