Just for information for those interested.

A recent flurry of illegal phone calls to my phone number, which is registered on the US Do Not Call list, finally revealed sufficient information about the caller to permit filing a complaint. Although the information is probably bogus, I decided to report it anyway.

At the FTC donotcall website (quite official and the proper one, as verified to the extent possible) the link to "file a complaint" (of a donotcall list violation) is instantly identified by my AV/AntiSpyware as having an invalid id certificate, and as having been identified as a "probable phishing site" and is blocked from loading.

I am strongly urged not to override the block, and if I choose to do so to be extremely cautious about revealing any information and not to reveal any personal information.

In the absence of any other way to report to the FTC that their website is identified as a scam, I finally found a place where I could file my complaint with the FTC's Consumer Fraud Division, to report the FTC as a SCAM WEBSITE. Since the protections gave a clear pass for this complaint site (and I've been there before), I'm waiting for them to call me now -

but I'm not holding my breath.
