Mark, I agree with 12-Stringer, Uncle Dave sings 'black gals shine' -this is as clear as a bell on both the County and Bear Family reissues of the 7 May 1927 recording with the Fruit Jar Drinkers (Sam and Kirk McGee). According to both the Meade and Russell discographies, this is the only recording Uncle Dave made of the song. The transcriber for the book accompanying the Bear Family set gives 'For the black gal to shine on the Georgia line', but this also is clearly wrong!
