Unfortunately, that was a really dumb thing to say, given the intractable nature of the tribal groups in Iraq.

He is also the one who made stupid jokes about bombing Iran, as though this was aperfectly acceptable outcome. So perhaps he just has a really kludgy sense of humor? I dunno. But it's enough to make me a good deal wary about him being in charge.
