Yes, most people fear change. That's what the term "conservative" refers to: the reluctance to change anything. Most people are naturally conservative to a considerable extent...they will only opt for change willingly when they are really bored, fed up, or just downright desperate.

And if you've ever had dogs as pets, you might note that they are even more conservative than most people are! ;-)

Example: Our dachshunds, being miniatures, and being overweight, have great difficulty climbing the three back steps to get in the house. So I built them a ramp. Will they use it? NO! They will not even try. I have tried putting them on the ramp and pushing them up or down it. They struggle and leap off the edge...then go back to the steps and face the usual struggle there. I have tried luring them up the ramp (which has a very gentle slope) with food. No dice. They attempt to reach the food from the side of the ramp, but will not go up or down it. I have tried blocking off the fucking steps with a barrier so they can't get in at all without using the ramp. No dice. They stand outside and yell for hours, but they won't go up the ramp. Nor will they go down it.

Unbelievable. They are extreme conservatives.
