Corruption has been with us forever, in the US and everywhere.

But a democratic society can sustain the blows, so long as it maintains   integrity.

We the people of the US have proven more than once that it is possible to beat back the corrupt influences of money, to maintain the integrity of our political system.

No, this isn't a historic myth of democracy at work, Little Hawk. But I can agree it is most certainly a contemporary one.
