The Caryl is Caryl P. Weiss. She's a an old (!) folkie from way back, and a seasoned shanty singer, who has performed with just about every well-known folk performer such as Doc Watson, Bill Staines, Dave Van Ronk and others.
Originally from Philly, I believe, she lived in Texas for many years, associated with the Kerrville Festival.
She currently resides here in Annapolis, MD.
Her shanty group is called The Liverpool Judies, and Caryl plays guitar, banjo and concertina expertly.
She does a great Beaumont Rag on her "With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm" recording.
