I just wanted to let you know we are scheduled to drive up the books this Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed that we make it through the mountains with this trailer and the books! My husband and I are going up also (separately) - I want to PERSONALLY make sure these books arrive safely.
   D---- - I have been talking with Stefanie in Colorado City.
I told her that I would like to start a Summer Reading Program for the children. It would be modeled on the Summer Reading Program in the Chandler libraries.
I have been obtaining information and advice from the children's librarian at Sunset Library in Chandler. I told
Stefanie I would arrange for the "reading maps" and the prizes. Unfortunately, I don't think we are going to have enough children's books to make this program work.
I only have a few boxes of children's books going up on Saturday. The librarian at Sunset Library gave me a large bag of children's books as a donation. But, we DESPERATELY need more children's books (for all ages)
to make this program work. I am begging all the librarians in Chandler and Tempe for extra children's books.
      D---- - would you and your students please keep your eyes open for children's books (all ages) for Colorado City.
I would certainly appreciate it. If I can round up some more boxes of children's books, would you be willing to take them up when YOU go in a few weeks? I am really hoping that we can implement this program for the children.
