OK, the Classic Threads List is up on the FAQ. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, and who sent me personal messages and suggestions, and particularly Amos who suggested the format. These threads should not be looked on as a "best of" Mudcat list (although some are really good!), but as a sampling for Newcomers of the kinds of topics we talk about here, and an explanation of the nature of some of the ongoing threads and obscure references that are made. It can also be a repository for some of our favorite moments.

Although I asked for suggestions and used many, I realize that the list represents my final choices, and so are not entirely objective. There are hundreds of great threads that I didn't sight, and may not even be aware of. And so, as Joe has already mentioned, except for the obvious exception of The First Thread, the Classic Threads will change as often as you like. Maybe folks would like to submit their own Classic Threads list monthly? I would certainly like to see choices from people like Shambles, Peter T, Nightowl, Kat and others who have been around here longer than I.
