Hi all. Just a quick note to say Jim was great last night. We saw Jim at the Sage Gateshead the night before, and as he doesn't play up North that often, we decided at the last minute to go to the Coliseum to catch him once more. Lovely venue, and we had a great excuse to fit in fish and chips beforehand too ;)

Jim was as fantastic as ever. It was a very contrasting set; the first half was solo and very much what we're used to hearing from Jim in the past; some beautifully moving piano pieces, acoustic guitar, melodian etc.

The second half was amazing and completely different, incorporating keyboard, xylophone, electronic, drums, electric guitar ... the sound was fantastic. It was so different I'm sure I saw the "older generation" squirming in their seats unsure what to make of it. All I can say is it was fantastic and well worth seeing.

Our only disappointment was that Jamie, on violin, hadn't made it (looking at MySpace, seems he was at another festival!)

We first stumbled on Jim when a friend had tickets last year but couldn't make it, so we went along save them going to waste. Since then we've been hooked. Bearing in mind we're not Folky in the traditional sense (more indie, pop, rock), I think Jim is the kind of musician that can generate new fans, people who would never have ever considered listening to Folk music, like us.

So well done Jim. Really look forward to seeing you again, hopefully soon. Can't wait for the new album in July. Rich
