Just for the record, neither my partner nor I have had slow-down problems with the new AVG 8 on our computers (he updated, I installed clean, both Win XP). The scan does slow things down, but the Norton ones always did too - I turned off the automatic scheduled one and just do it manually, at a time when I can go away and leave it to do its thing. AVG works well for us, anyway, thumbs up. (John in K, thanks again for your customary invaluable input.)
