Thread Name: banjo: 5th string capo or tacks?
Subject: banjo: 5th string capo or tacks?
Long intro to short question:

Been playing a long neck open back (completely unworthy, but it's the one Pete Seeger reportedly uses). Been okay with no capo, but now we have a singer (youngest daughter...proud,proud,proud [sorry]), so I have to put things in singable keys. I am considering a Shubb 5th string capo (the thingie that lives permanently on a slide), even though it is not "old timey", and Earl used tacks. Any downside to these things?

Thanks (as always) for any expert advice (I am a total rookie hack).

Tim
