Just saw a show on Sunday Morning on CBS about the way that tourism is changing the area around Yosemite; so much so that they are desperately trying to find ways to preserve the park and cut down on the development (parking lots, restaurants, hotels etc.) around it without damaging local business...

John Muir was mentioned, along the lines of how he might feel today seeing how the place has changed since his day...
