To 'Kick the Pope', is to beat the livin' shit out of your Lambeg Drum; a kind of Cozy Powell meets Loyalism, if you will. I'm a bit surprised that you don't know this, considering your 'expertise' in other departments.
As a general rule, I don't sing Irish rebel Songs neither - It's just not what I do in my day to day repertoire. So your previous assumption is wrong also.
