Thread Name: Versions: Sleep Little Prince
Subject: RE: Help: Sleep Little Prince
I can help with some of the lyrics, but not all. I sang this song in the lullaby section of the eistedford when I was in primary school (grade school), and I've been trying to track down the lyrics for months so I can sing it properly to my little girl, now 9 months old. :) Her cousin even has a Peter Rabbit doll with a mini music box inside that plays THIS SONG, so it's been really getting to me that I can't remember or find it. LOL

I think the middle verse was...
Not even a mouse is astir, Kitchen and cellar are bare,
Calm lies o'er palace and park, never a sound in the dark,
Save for the maiden who sighs, stirs in her slumber and cries, Dreaming as fond lovers will, Sleep Oh my prince and be still,
Lie still, lie still.

And from the final verse, I can remember these bits:

(missing a line or two here)
Plenty of nice things to eat, fine golden shoes for thy feet,
Carriage and horses to ride, _________ to run by thy side, [coachmen? horsemen? servants?]
All will by thine, if thoust will,
Sleep, O my princling, be still,
Lie still, lie still
