Folk musicians gettin' all the chicks? I thought it was cuz they were better in bed? Or is is that they perform better cuz women try so hard to impress 'em? Not so sure about the folkie thing but the male musician in general does seem to be a babe magnet; look at your typical rock star-groupie thing...most of the lead singers and guitarists who couldn't get laid in a whore house before they joined a band would probably have no problem admitting it's the band thing that makes them irresistible...there are many reasons women go for musicians. I would go into them here but I would embarrass myself.

But my own belief has been that engaging in creative activity is a way to stave off fear of death or the insanity that sets in when we realize life is absurd, dangerous and depressing...in other words, art keeps us alive and happy...even as we starve, go mad and alienate others in order to do it...
