James, I think balance on the court is a very important issue in this next election. Two of our most conservative justices, Rehnquist and Thomas, were appointed by moderate republican presidents. Their party, as I'm sure you know, has a very vocal and powerful conservative faction that must be served. The fact that the Miranda ruling is also currently under siege gives this issue even more weight, IMHO.
