A bit of promotion for a fun free musical event in New York's 'forgotten ' borough:
New Yorkers who are up for taking the ferry on a warm summer's day (and NJites who don't mind crossing the Hudson) would be able to enjoy some great music in a pleasant, treelined park in Staten Island.
Come join us at Staten Island's : Westerleigh Park Folk Music Festival NOON - 6 p.m. FREE to public, benches available, but please bring blanket or chair.
FOOD Available on premises; also games, raffles, pet adoptions (dogs and cats), etc.
This outdoor event features some of the strongest 'local' talent around the five boroughs and NJ:
Karlus Trapp (who does the best darn version of Mojo Workin' of any living individual) , Queen Tipsy (ballads and torch songs), Jim Indell with Louise Luger (folk , country -rock and home grown songs), Joan Caddell Band (country with heart), Guys in the Band (every and any type of blues) , Nightdancers (Native American Flute Music) and the traditional old tyme of :Tom Daily, Mort Jacobi, and the wonderful Stan Jay (owner of Mandolin Brothers,renowned guitar store to everyone from Bob Dylan to Conan O Brian- Stan is also a modest but consummate lead guitarist).AND MORE!!!
THIS FUN OUTDOOR FESTIVAL is Saturday June 14 NOON - 6 p.m. TO WESTERLEIGH PARK FROM Ferry, take 48 Bus to Forest Ave. & Marianne Street, walk south on Marianne to Maine Ave, turn LEFT on Maine to the park.
