Always had a problem with maj7 in any but the "open" chords, e.g., Cmaj7... Anyone else ever incorporate them into the barre chords by bending back the middle finger over the third and fourth strings? Works pretty well with a modicum of practice...but you have to be careful that you don't mute or note the second string with your middle-fingered "mini-barre."
