Meet the Press was sad and funny and thoughtful this morning. Colleagues and friends and his producer were there. Doris Kearns Goodwin made a profound statement when she described when she and Tim were discussing Edward Kennedy's recent diagnosis, and she reminded Tim of an interview she had with Rose Kennedy. Kennedy told Goodwin that of her three sons that died young, she knew that each of them, given the opportunity to return, would go into the same lives even knowing there was a short duration, because they each loved so much what they were doing, helping people. Apparently Tim responded that he felt the same way, that he has done everything he wants to, with the exception of continuing to watch his son grow.

In one of the Charlie Rose clips on Friday, they were talking about Tim getting into television. He told Charlie that at least Charlie looked good on television "you got a chin. I've got cheeks!"
