From admittedly imperfect memory, corrections welcome.

SOME DAY I'LL GET OUT OF THESE BARS
(Keith Sykes)

I walked into a run-down bar,
Sign said a one man band,
He was sitting' on top of a bar stool,
With a guitar held in his hand,
And the song he was singing brought memories ringing,
I heard this old broken-down star,
Sing bad women and whiskey you know that they'll get you,
Some day I'll get out of these bars.

Chorus:
Some day I'll get out, some day I'll get out,
Won't fight no more honky tonk wars,
Some day I'll get out, some day I'll get out,
Some day I'll get out of these bars.

I sat there drinking, daydreaming and thinking,
Of a time not too long ago,
With iron bars all around me, and gray walls that bound me,
And years that went by too slow,
And the prayer that I whispered to the blue sky above,
Walking that big prison yard,
Was bad women and whiskey, you know that they'll get you,
Some day I'll get out of these bars.

Chorus

I paid for my drink and walked over to where,
He was singing his sad country song,
I said "We're a lot alike, guitar man, you and me,
But your sentence is way too long,"
"Some day I'll get out" he began to shout,
As I walked toward that open bar door,
"I'll find a song, and it won't take too long,
Until I get out of these bars."

Last Chorus
Some day I'll get out, some day I'll get out,
Won't fight no more honky tonk wars,
I'll find a song, and it won't take too long,
Until I get out of these bars.
