That news was posted up hread some time back.

"Feets -- don't fail me now!" is from a popular cartoon series of the 40's and 50's. It originally came from a Bob Hope movie.

""THE GHOST BREAKERS, 1940, directed by George Marshall, screenplay by Walter De Leon, from the play by Paul Dickey and Charles W. Goddard. Starring Bob Hope, Paulette Goddard, Richard Carlson, Willie Best, and Anthony Quinn.

Bob Hope stars as a radio broadcaster on the run from the mob who flees to an island off Cuba with heiress Paulette Goddard and his butler/ Òfamily detainer,Ó played by the unforgettable Willie Best, only to come up against ghosts and zombies galore. Plenty of silliness and lots of HopeÕs trademark one-liners, but the most memorable one is spoken by Best, ÒFeets, donÕt fail me now!Ó"

The phrase acquired overtones of racist stereotyping because of Best, who played a huge numbr of roles as an African-Ameican sterotype, including the elevator operator on "My Little Margie" inter alia.
