Art,

About the other two songs you mention, "The Foolish Frog" stems from "May Irwin's Frog Song," a Tin Pan Alley "coon song" dating from the 1890s. It may well have been in tradition before that, but I have no evidence of it before then.

It's also possible "Rum and Coconut Water" was written by Lord Burgess (Erwin Burgie), who performed it, I think, before Blake -- but I'm not certain because their recording dates (exact dates uncertain) appear to have been very close in time.

Burgie, by the way, wrote a number of hits for Harry Belafonte, who seems to have employed him as a songwriter during at least part of his career.

In general Blake did not write many of his songs, though he is credited with a few of the best ones, like "Run Come See." His great forte was his skill as a performer, and he was a great one.

All the best,

Bob
