That would be Baxtergate, Steve. Flowergate is the one that slopes up past the Elsinore and the Little Angel, but no chippies.

You will find it hard to get hold of poor F&C here, and each establishment has its fans. It partly depends on how you like the dish cooked (how brown, how thick the batter, how crispy or soft the chips) and whether you seek the sedentary or ambulant eating experience. How far you wish to walk can also be a factor. If it were on my side of the bridge I would visit Siggy's more often, but I have to ignore at least 3 decent places to reach it so I don't.

For a sit down you can do well in some of the pubs, as well as in the more obvious places.
