There was rain. There was steamy heat. There were lines for the showers which were very far away from my tent, fairly tall grass, more expensive food and about 300 mosquitoes pers square foot, most of which bit Jacqui at some time during the weekend. I don't think they sprayed.

There were good moments: the workshops I attended were wonderful and I discovered Joe Jenks. I was looking forward to Sat night's concert with Andy Irvine and Si Kahn, but they moved it into a building because it was raining beforehand, and there was no way to get into it. The bits of it I heard from outside sounded great. It was good to hang out with Kendall and Jacqui and all the other folks I hung out with. It was good to meet Animaterra's sweetie and make new friends. I should also mention Barbara Benn's bumblebee rubber boots, which were the hottest thing in fashion at Old Songs this year.

I'm not sure I'll go next year. I'm getting too old for predatory seat-finding, mosquito warfare, and the hell that IS 'putting up the tent'.
