I've made a couple of 'em outta spare tuners, a piece of 1 X 4 from home depot and a cigar box. You can use a lotta "found" items to dress them out with. I had an old plastic blank used in circuit panels to close up breaker openings for a bridge and that worked pretty well. Some want to make just a slider type, 3 or 4 stringer tuned to open chord of yore own device and some go the full boat with fretted necks and all that. Couple guys at the Tweed's Blues forum make their own pickups outta magnets and wind them on sewing machine bobbin winders. It's getting to be an underground scene now. My friend John Lowe uses twin pool cues sometimes for his necks and has a bass string on one and three or four treble strings on the other wired to accept a bass amp as well as a standard amp for the high notes. The sound is tremendous as Bobert will attest to as he's got a LoweBow.

I gave mine to a buddy who had a Blues club down here in Florida and Bo Diddly played the thing and signed it fore he passed away.

Have fun, they're as easy or as hard to make as you want them to be. Just keep in mind that basically it's only a stick with wires strung on it and go from there. ;~)
