I was gardening a few days ago and was pleased to see a little wren come out from the hedge and pick up grubs that I'd turned up whilst digging. As the wren seemed quite bold and didn't mind me being there, I popped inside for my camera to get a few close-ups. When I returned, I sat quietly by the hedge waiting for the wren to re-appear, but there was no sign of it. Suddenly, my tabby cat Millie shot out of a nearby shrub with the wren in her mouth!! I chased her and she dropped the poor little thing, but it was dead. My daughter said 'well, you can still photograph it' but it's not quite the same is it? I like my cat, but I also like to see robins & wrens etc. in the garden - bit of a dilemma really.
