I once lived in a group house with several other students and several cats. Two of the students were Japanese guys, Toshi and Shinichi. One day, Toshi made himself a "hoagie," (which is what we called a submarine sandwich in Philly), and left it on the kitchen counter while he answered the phone. When he returned, the sandwich was gone. The only other person in the house at the time was Shinichi, and during the next few days Toshi bitterly told everyone to watch out for Shinichi, as he was dishonest and might take your food.

A week later, our housemate Carlton got back from his holiday, and found the contents of the hoagie, minus the meat, strewn all over the floor in his room. Panther, his cat, had somehow nicked the hoagie and dragged it upstairs to the second floor before devouring the meat! Toshi was embarrassed, but did the right thing and apologized to Shinichi!
