One of PC Magazine's suggested alternative courses of action was just to add your DNS servers to your trusted zone, which was always a recommendation for Zone Alarm, as I remember (I used to use it but switched to Comodo).

Anyway, I just went through the updates for a Windows 2000 machine, and things seem fine. These things always make me nervous.
