I am one of the shy ones. I enjoy Hearme very much and am truly thankful for the ones that jump in and sing instead of just letting Hearme be in silence.I have found that people are asked if they want to sing, and a lot of people decline the invitation,or say maybe later or something. I am one that most times will decline, but when I feel comfortable to sing or play my harp or dulcimer the reception I get is fantastic. Feeling uncomfortable has nothing to do with who is on Hearme or whether I am given a chance, it is always because I am shy. Sometimes I ask if I can sing and am never turned down. If a shy person can ask anyone can.
Sometimes it is fun and enjoyable to just sit and listen to some of the really talented ones. I know of several I could just sit and listen to all night.
A suggestion was made that when you go into Hearme if you don't want to do anything but listen you can change how you sign on. I some times have signed on as "just listening" as have many others. If you want to sing or something put "mic" after your name. I quite honestly don't see what the problem is as I have always been treated very politely and encourged 100%. Mbo, Dave, Jon, & Callie thanks for the great entertainment last night.
