Subject: RE: Tech: Sony MiniDV to PC to DVD?
Finally made my first DVD from my own DV tape: it was NOT as simple as I thought at all! AS the footage was taken in fairly wild winds (and I hadn't then found the "wind noise reduction" button) I thought I would add music and wipe the original soundtrack. While I was copying the music I wanted from my I-tunes library to the video-editing suite (i.e. all going on INSIDE my computer, or so I thought!) I managed to pick up some unmistakeable hammering and sawing from the next room, where my other half was replacing the lounge floor. Eventually traced that to the open mike on the webcam attached to computer! (So tip: remove all mikes before doing such manoevres!)
Then the actual exporting and disc burning seemed to take for ever as it went through "transcoding" ( 2 hours nearly for a one-hour video)and another half-hour or so to burn the disc.
Then realised I had several copies of same files in various places on my hard disk, and was down to only 1/4 of memory free having started out with 3/4 free, so a lot of deleting, defragging, etc to do.
Don't I wish I'd bought a hard disk camcorder now?! or is it just as bad?
