It appeared in MacLeod's book The Road to the Isles (1927); if it was written more-or-less at the same time as the song The Road to the Isles, that would take it back to the Great War period. Boosey and Hawkes held the copyright, which I think was renewed in 1958. Land of MacLeod is probably still in copyright.
