Thread Name: BS: On Same-Sex Marriages
Subject: RE: BS: On Same-Sex Marriages
Like it or not, "Joy Bringer" has expressed the positions people hold against gay marriage. The California Supreme Court has ruled in favor of gay marriage and thousands of marriages have been performed - but they all will be annulled if an election initiative passes this fall, adding to the state constitution the declaration that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Nearly half of the California electorate supports such a constitutional amendment, that would bar gay marriage for a long, long time. If you were a Californian supporting gay marriage, what would you do to change the minds and hearts of the voters who oppose it - call them homophobic?

I have a friend who was married to a woman, and he had hundreds of male sex partners that he picked up in restrooms or on the street. Hardly what would call a healthy lifestyle. Now he's divorced from his wife and in a stable relationship with a man. If he were to get married to that man, that would be even more stable - and certainly healthier than having hundreds of lovers - no??

I can't say I'm thrilled by the thought of homosexual sex, but it's a fact of life and it doesn't seem that anybody is going to stop it. That being the case, it would seem to me to be far better for society, for homosexual relationships to be stable and faithful, rather than the unbelievable promiscuity that my friend engaged in. If my friend were to get married, would I feel comfortable attending his wedding? I'm not sure yet.
