I was wondering just the other day why there had been no serious competition to Google. I do know that maintaining a database of that magnitude requires LOTS of hardware...which means lots of money. Cuil seems to have done their indexing before they went public. And I see nothing about 'making a profit' yet.

They DO claim they index 3 times as many pages as Google! Now THAT is amazing, if true.
