Just a note here for those who might be interested.
I've been forced to Office 2007 because "critical patches" to Windows made my old Word version unusable.
In Word 2007, there no longer is a "flag" on the lower toolbar to show when Caps Lock or Insert keys are toggled. You can setup Autocorrect to detect (usually) when you've accidentally turned on Caps Lock, and you also have an "indicator light" on most keyboards that you can look for to tell, before you start typing, whether Caps Lock is on.
THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL before you start typing whether you've toggled to the "insert new characters" or to the "overtype existing characters" mode.
It's a "feature," apparently, based on the assumption that Microsoft programs are only to be used by idiots who don't use all those buttons. The other side of the "feature" is FIFTY SEVEN (I counted them) untintelligible, indistinguishable, and useless icons on the top toolbar, with all the useful features scattered randomly at lower tiers of menus to make sure that you DON'T TRY TO USE THEM (because you're supposed to be an idiot or you wouldn't be using the "new" Microsoft programs.)
But highlight and Shift-F3 still toggles the case of highlighted text selections, although it's now an undocumented feature so far as I can tell.
